I had to grin when I saw it. BeauFort London is courting the deep again with Sirenide, joining the Force Majeure collection. The title is a dare. It suggests a song from the rocks, not a postcard beach, and that suits this house perfectly.

BeauFort has never done clean. This is a brand that made its name with tarry sails, damp pages, and flint-spark openings. Think of Tonnerre with its cordite snap, Vi et Armis with tea and bruised spice, Rake & Ruin and Terror & Magnificence that smell like midnight decisions you cannot undo. When they point their compass seawards, you get Fathom V - not aquatic in the usual sense, more seaweed, storm surge, and shadow.

So where might Sirenide sit in that canon. The name leans maritime, but I do not expect driftwood prettiness. If BeauFort stays on brand, this will be brine with bite, minerals that feel almost metallic, and something human at the edge that keeps you sniffing. A siren suggests sweetness as bait, then a pull under. Maybe a glint of citrus or floral to catch the light before it turns darker and more saline. I am speculating, but BeauFort’s playbook is no secret.

I also suspect scale. The Force Majeure banner promises weather, not wallpaper. If Fathom V was the wave hitting the hull, Sirenide sounds like the voice underneath. That could mean a more intimate intensity, less cannon fire, more riptide. Or it could be BeauFort at full volume again. Either way, I will test it outside, in cold air, near water. Their perfumes make the most sense where wind edits the edges.

If you have been burned by laundry-clean aquatics, this is probably the sea you wanted all along. If BeauFort has ever felt too aggressive, sample on skin and give it time. Their best work shifts hour by hour, from sharp to soft, from smoke to skin salt. I sprayed Fathom V this morning to reset my nose and remembered why this house gets under it. Sirenide has a name that risks a promise. I hope it keeps it, with teeth.
