Back to Home
I watched the new Parfums de Marly holiday tease with a hot coffee and a raised brow. Less glossy perfection please, more scent that clings to a scarf and causes trouble in a doorway. The good news, this house has plenty of winterfire in the lineup. The kind that makes you stand a little closer.
If you want the party to start before you arrive, it is still Delina for me. That tart rhubarb and rose does a flirtatious spin that cuts through wool coats and cold air. Delina Exclusif deepens the rose with plush fruit and vanilla, a more opulent, after-dark cousin that pairs with lipstick and a velvet dress.
For the night owls, Layton is quintessential holiday energy, crisp apple, spices, and creamy woods. I once wore it to a snow-slick dinner and the compliments outlasted dessert. If you crave smoke and a slow burn, Herod is cigars-with-vanilla in a cedar-paneled fantasy, warm, grown, a little dangerous.
Vanilla lovers have two lanes. Althair is golden and textured, vanilla with tonka and woods, not a cupcake, more crème brûlée crust. Oriana is the sweet tooth, a cloud of marshmallow and orange blossom that reads festive without tipping into costume. It sparkles like string lights.
For a grand entrance, Carlisle brings dark fruits and patchouli with baritone depth. Pegasus is cooler, almond and metal gleam, a silvery take that wears beautifully in icy weather. Prefer green over gourmand, Greenley gives you crisp apple, citrus, and moss, the bright counterpart to heavy knits. Valaya is the clean-skin cashmere option, musky, airy, quietly expensive.
If you like woods with a dressed-up swagger, Haltane sits in that polished, forested space, rich yet refined. Office friendly, date-night ready, very holiday-ready. And if you are gifting, you cannot go wrong building a duo, Delina with Layton, Oriana with Herod, Valaya with Greenley. Opposites that play nicely under mistletoe pressure.
Season of wonder, sure. But make it scented, and make it memorable. On cold mornings I reach for rose. By night, I let vanilla speak. Parfums de Marly can do both, and that is the real magic swirling behind the ribbons and lights.
