If you’ve ever watched a room hush when someone in Layton walks in, you already know Parfums de Marly speaks fluent projection. Now they’ve fired up a new engine with Les Extraits and three fresh titles: Carios, Eragon, Valero. No fluff, no sugar-coating, just a clear statement that the house is chasing density and allure.
Extrait is the industry’s current obsession, and not always for the right reasons. Longer wear can easily turn into louder everything. PDM, though, has history on its side. When they turn the volume up, they usually keep it polished. Think the sculpted sweetness of Layton, the metallic almond muscle of Pegasus, the smoky warmth of Herod. This new trio feels like a promise to dial the formula toward richness without losing that club-ready shine.
Carios: A name that sounds mineral and grounded, almost tactile. If PDM leans into texture here, expect something with gravitas over gloss. I’m bracing for a skin-hugging, late-night aura rather than a daytime flex.
Eragon: That name has teeth. Fantasy-coded, yes, but also a cue for heat and swagger. If this is the showboat of the set, it will be the one people recognize from across the bar. Expect the talkers to pick this one up first.
Valero: Sleek, almost tailored. This feels like the quiet killer, the one that doesn’t shout yet keeps getting compliments. If I had to blind-reach for office-to-evening versatility, I’d start here.
Gendered label aside, wear what you like. PDM’s audience is broad, and extrait-level density can read stunning on any skin. The question is balance. Will these ride the line between seductive and overstuffed, or will they finally give performance-chasers what they want without the sugar crash?
I’ll be testing all three on skin soon, not just on blotters. I want to know how Carios, Eragon, and Valero bloom after the first hour, how they behave in the cold, and whether they keep that PDM signature that makes strangers lean in. If you live for big, confident niche, this is your weekend counter run. If you’re extrait-skeptical, consider this your nudge to sample patiently, not just spray and sprint.
