If you think honey fragrances are sweet and well-behaved, think again. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz just slipped me a vial of trouble. DSH Perfumes Partners in Crime 2025 is a honeyed labdanum that doesn’t smile for the camera. It leans in. It whispers something you probably shouldn’t repeat. And then it stays on your skin long enough to become plausible deniability.
First spritz lands like a warm, lacquered glow. I get a beeswax sheen over resin that feels thick and slow, almost like it drips in amber light. The honey is not tea-time cute. It is feral-leaning, with that pelt-like hum that honey sometimes wears when it gets close to skin and heat. Labdanum builds the backbone: leathery, balsamic, a little smoky at the edges. Imagine the soft side of leather, the part that touches skin, warmed by a low flame.
As it moves, the fragrance coaxes out a subtle herbal shadow and a quiet spice tingle that keeps the sweetness from drooping. There’s a salted, almost mineral undertow that gives structure, so the resin never turns syrupy. The drydown is the real confession. Honey and labdanum melt into a plush, ambered purr that radiates confidence without shouting. It sits close but not shy. This isn’t a cloud perfume. It’s a force field.
Wear it at night or in cool daylight when you want character over charm. On me it lasts 7 to 9 hours with moderate sillage that turns intimate after the first hour. It reads genderless, unapologetic, and a bit cinematic. If you love resinous ambers and want honey that pulls you into the alley instead of the patisserie, Partners in Crime will feel like an accomplice.
The 2025 iteration feels precise and intentionally shadowed. No gimmicks, no sugar rush. Just the kind of slow-burning seduction that indie perfumery does best when the materials are handled by a steady hand. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has been in this game long enough to know how to make honey dangerous and labdanum irresistible.
File this under: wear when you plan to break your own rules. And if you’re already a DSH Perfumes loyalist, Partners in Crime 2025 isn’t a want. It’s a need.
