Back to Home
I have a soft spot for brands that smell like real life, not red carpets. Cologne & Cotton, the UK linen company founded in 1989 by sisters Vicky Shepherd and Jenny Deeming, is relaunching six of their original fragrances to celebrate 35 years. These were the scents that quietly perfumed their first Leamington Spa shop, the ones you spritzed while debating whether you needed another stack of pillowcases. Spoiler: you did.
This is not a beauty house chasing algorithms. It is a linen specialist whose DNA reads crisp cotton, sunshine, open windows. Which is exactly why this relaunch intrigues me. When a bed linen brand does fragrance well, you get mood, not noise.
What to expect, realistically
The sisters built their name by traveling and sourcing in the late 80s, and that curatorial eye often translates into perfumes that are edited, not embellished. If you remember scooping up a bottle back in the day, this is your nostalgia ticket. If you are new to Cologne & Cotton, treat this as your entry into the quiet luxury of scent that plays nicely with textiles and skin.
Who will love this
Questions I will be taking to counter
If you are UK-based and snag a sniff, report back. I want the truth on projection and whether the Leamington spirit still lingers in the drydown. Until then, I am choosing to believe in the gentle thrill of a relaunch done for the right reason, that first-shop spark bottled again.
