If you’ve ever wanted your Burberry Her to trade its pink-berry hoodie for a cashmere turtleneck, meet Burberry Her Vanilla Absolute. The name alone tells you where we’re headed. Vanilla absolute is not cupcake frosting. It is dense, slightly boozy, and plush, the kind of vanilla that hums rather than squeals. Layer that over Her’s neon-strawberry aura and ambroxan shimmer and you could get strawberries rolled in brown sugar and smoldering woods. If they dial down the berry, expect a moodier, more skin-hugging gourmand with grown-up polish.
Context matters. The original Burberry Her (2018) is the Francis Kurkdjian-era urban fruit bomb that redefined pretty-sweet for a generation. Since then we’ve had a caravan of spin-offs: Burberry Her Intense, Burberry Her London Dream, Burberry Her Eau de Toilette, Burberry Her Elixir de Parfum. Some leaned citrus-fresh, some creamier. Now the brand is steering straight into the vanilla wave. Slightly provocative, given that Burberry already doubled down on vanilla with last year’s Burberry Goddess, which came with a trio-of-vanillas story. So where does Her Vanilla Absolute live that Goddess doesn’t? My guess: berry-forward DNA kept intact, richness boosted, sillage softened from shriek to purr.
Vanilla is having its maximalist comeback. If you love the sculpted elegance of Dior Vanilla Diorama or the ambered coziness of Guerlain Shalimar Millésime Vanilla Planifolia, you know the spectrum. Burberry Her Vanilla Absolute will likely sit on the plush-pop end: less patisserie than Kayali Vanilla 28, more modern musks and polished woods, still undeniably sweet. Think date night, sweater weather, and club lighting where you want a trail that says edible but not sticky.
Who should sample it first:
Final take: I’m cautiously excited. If the house keeps the signature strawberry intact and drapes it in a true vanilla absolute glow, this could be the coziest Her yet and a smart seasonal pivot. I’ll report back once I’ve had proper skin time, but my nose is already picturing a polished berry-vanilla that lingers long after the last sip of hot chocolate.
