I have a love-hate thing with vanilla. One spray can turn me into a cashmere-wrapped villain, the next into a bakery mascot. So when Parle Moi de Parfum announced Looking for Vanilla, signed by Michel Almairac, my eyebrows went up for all the right reasons.
Almairac is the minimalist whisperer behind icons like Gucci Rush, Chloé Eau de Parfum (2008), and Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum. His style is stripped back, confident, never sticky with fluff. Which makes a vanilla from him feel like a dare. The name reads like a manifesto - not “Found Vanilla”, not “Vanilla Party” - but a search, a cut-through-the-noise promise.
Parle Moi’s own lineup backs that up. Think the elegant focus of Orris Tattoo 29, the high-altitude fruit-woods lift in Mile High 38, the soft-skin hum of Milky Musk 39, the crisp bite of Woody Perfecto 107. When they choose a material, they show you its backbone, not its frosting. If Looking for Vanilla follows house code, expect a streamlined structure that lets the vanilla breathe beside woods, musks, maybe a salted or smoky inflection rather than caramel drizzle.
Context matters. Vanilla is peaking right now, but in grown-up edits. We’ve had syrup-swathed juggernauts like Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, the boozy cathedral of Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille, the couture polish of Dior Vanilla Diorama, the transparent petals of Hermès Vanille Galante, and the incense-lit city exclusive Le Labo Vanille 44. The smartest launches are leaning resinous, airy, or mineral instead of cupcake. A Parle Moi vanilla sounds like it aims squarely at that lane.
I haven’t had it on skin yet, and that matters with vanilla - it blooms, clings, and shifts. But I’m betting on a satin finish rather than buttercream, a unisex axis that keeps gourmand warmth while cutting sweetness. If you like your vanilla with a backbone and breathable fabric, this could be a quietly addictive daily driver.
File under: unisex vanilla, niche restraint, zero sugar crash. And yes, my cashmere is ready.
