If Tuesday needs a plot twist, I prefer it in iris and heliotrope. This morning I tapped a whisper of Après L’Ondée on my wrists for Jacques Guerlain. One drop is all it takes. The violet haze lifts, the anise blinks awake, the whole thing sighs like wet petals on an old Paris sidewalk. It’s the kind of fragility that dares you to lean in closer. And yes, I fell for it again.

The soundtrack is set by two more October lights. Desmond Tutu for moral clarity, Yo-Yo Ma for resonance that finds your ribs and hums there. They’re not perfume names, but they shape how I wear scent today. I go softer, slower, less glossy. No performance, just presence.

Tea matters too. My companion is Bombay Breakfast from The Jasmine Pearl Tea Co., smoky and brisk, a little peppery at the edges. With Après L’Ondée, it’s a clean clash that works. The tea cuts and steadies, the perfume drifts and returns. If you think tea pairings with perfume are precious, fine. Try this one and tell me you don’t taste the violet-laced air just a little.

There’s also the small thrill of rules you set for yourself. On 10/10 I’m pulling something with nutmeg. Not the loud, bakery kind. I want that dry, dusky heat that flirts with sweat and shadow, the way nutmeg turns skin into an echo of warmth. If you’ve ever found nutmeg too shy or too sharp, adjust the dose, wear it closer to the body, let it merge with your pulse. The right concentration changes everything.

I’m not chasing novelty today. I’m chasing calibration. Après L’Ondée remains a reminder that a light hand can be the bravest choice. It resists the urge to shout and still fills the room, the way Yo-Yo Ma can make a single sustained note feel like an aria, the way Desmond Tutu could brighten a crowd simply by standing there.

Tuesday, sorted. A fragile classic, a strong cup, a date with nutmeg on the calendar. Some days you don’t need a new bottle. You just need better attention.
