Back to Home
Confession time. The most festive thing I smelled this week wasn’t a perfume, and it wasn’t a candle. It was a pack of Biom wipes in the limited Frasier Fir scent, lurking in the household aisle and quietly outclassing half the seasonal home fragrances on display.
This isn’t the shrill, citronella-adjacent “pine cleaner” trope. Frasier Fir opens with a crisp, cold-air sparkle, like the first slash into a fresh conifer. I get bright pine needles and a breath of cool camphor, then a surprisingly polite balsamic core that reads more evergreen sap than bathroom disinfectant. It has a faint lemony lift, a soft wood grain texture, and blessedly no vanilla cupcake nonsense trying to make it “cozy.” Think brisk walk through a tree lot, not potpourri. On my counters it lingers for about 20 minutes, which is enough for mood but not so much that it bullies dinner.
The pleasure here is the balance. Many fir accords skew either bracing and medicinal or syrupy and fake. Biom’s take sits in the middle, clean and woodsy, with a little resin glow that feels grown up. It’s a scent profile perfume people will recognize, just dialed for utility. If you love the ritual of a green, coniferous top note and don’t want your home to smell like sugar cookies, this does the job with surprising finesse.
A small practical note. Wipe fragrances can fight with whatever else you’re burning or wearing. If you’re running a gourmand candle, expect tonal whiplash. Pair Frasier Fir with unscented tealights or a quiet woody candle and you’ll get that winter-forest halo without a clash. And if you’re sensitive, start small, one cloth at a time, because conifer terpenes read louder in cooler rooms.
Is this “perfume”? Not in the bottle-on-vanity sense. But the accord is composed enough that I caught myself chasing the drydown on my hands after a quick tidy. A seasonal fling that actually smells like the tree it’s named for, no tinsel required. If your December needs a shot of evergreen realism, Biom’s Frasier Fir earns its place under the sink and in the scent rotation.
