Back to Home
If you still think vetiver smells like your dad’s aftershave, you haven’t met Grey Vetiver. The 2009 release from Tom Ford bottled a particular kind of cool — crisp, mineral, pressed-shirt elegance with zero fuss. Now the house is cueing up Eau de Grey Vetiver, and my nose is already reaching for a linen blazer.
Let’s set expectations. “Eau de” usually signals lift and light. Where Grey Vetiver had that citrus sparkle over a clean wood and moss frame, Eau de Grey Vetiver will likely chase air and transparency. I’m imagining more daylight between the notes, more breeze through the grasses, less of the dense tailoring that made the original such an office assassin. If the 2009 juice felt like a starched Oxford, this could be the open collar version that still means business.
A few truths from the trenches:
What I want from Eau de Grey Vetiver:
No corporate monologues, no fake swagger needed. Tom Ford already proved the point with Grey Vetiver. If this new eau keeps the spine and turns up the light, we might have the definitive warm-weather counterpart to a bona fide wardrobe staple. I’ll report back once I’ve road-tested it on a crowded commute and a late dinner. For now, color me interested and a little impatient.
