The first spray of Laboratorio Olfattivo Underground Vibes hit me like stepping off a late train into city chill. Metal, ozone, something bitter-sparkling that feels like gin on ice. Then the floor shifts. A peppery buzz, a slick of ink and vinyl, the press of warm leather. If you’ve ever walked home at 3 AM with mascara smudged and a grin you didn’t earn, this will feel familiar.
Created by Antoine Lie for Laboratorio Olfattivo, Underground Vibes leans into texture more than prettiness. On my skin it starts sharp and modern - a cool, metallic glint - then melts into smoked woods, damp concrete, and a skin-close hum that reads like human warmth after the club. I get hints of cardamom prickle, patchouli grit, and a faint tarry ribbon that keeps things deliciously unruly. There is sweetness, but it’s a flicker, not a syrup bath.
Performance is solid. Two sprays on wrists and one behind the neck carried me through an 8 hour day with a low-key aura, then a surprisingly intimate drydown that clung to my scarf the next morning. Projection sits just right for a niche night scent - people will notice if they lean in, which is exactly how this wants to be worn.
Is it beautiful? In a warehouse party way, yes. Is it polite? Not really. That first metallic snap might polarize, and the inky-leather middle won’t flatter a dainty floral wardrobe. But if you crave a scent that captures the ghosts of past wild nights, Underground Vibes nails the brief without cosplay. It never feels costume-y or nostalgic for nostalgia’s sake. It feels lived in.
Styling notes:
There’s a nod to “Wild Nights” around this launch, which tracks. Laboratorio Olfattivo Underground Vibes is not about the opening toast. It’s the aftertaste, the echo, the memory that refuses to shower off. And yes, sometimes the most honest perfumes are a little dirty.
