If your spice rack learned carpentry, it would smell like Resinwood. There is nothing syrupy or crowd-pleasing here. Daniel Gallagher went cerebral, anchoring spice to timber and resin so it stands upright instead of fluttering off the skin. I wore it for a week and it never once veered into kitchen or candle. It is spine and structure.

The opening fires a dry, peppery spark that reads like flint striking cedar. No jammy fruits, no vanilla crutch. Think clean heat, the cool tingle of cardamom territory, a blade-sharp top that clears the air. Ten minutes in, the resin engine turns over. You get that amber-glow warmth without the sticky sweetness, more benzoin-polished and incense-aired than gooey. The transition is seamless, like sawdust settling after a fresh cut.

The heart is where Resinwood earns its name. Woods feel planed and dry, a touch of pencil shavings and a hint of guaiac smoke. The resins knit those edges so it never splinters. It is textural perfumery: matte, grainy, slightly tarred at the seams. I kept catching that almost-cola shimmer resins can throw off when the skin heats up, then it snapped back to a disciplined, dry core.

Performance is steady. I get 8 to 10 hours with a measured halo for the first three. Sillage sits just outside arm’s length if you do two to three sprays. Push it and you get a woodshop echo that still reads refined, not loud. On fabric it leans drier; on warm skin it reveals a gentle ambered hum.

Season and setting: fall to early spring, office-friendly if you keep the trigger hand in check, excellent for night when you want presence without dessert. Gender lines blur completely. It is a spicy woody niche fragrance for people who prefer angles over frosting.

Quick take:

  • Mood: disciplined heat, intelligent resin, clean wood grain
  • Wearability: high for spice lovers, zero sugar fatigue
  • Best part: that resin-wood clasp that locks the structure in place

Gallagher Fragrances positioned Resinwood as an exploration of spice, and it actually follows through. It is spice with a backbone, not a garnish. If you want a 2025 release that treats spice as architecture and not ambiance, start here.
