If fruit could hitch a ride on a spaceship, it would probably smell like Alien Pulp. Mugler just squeezed a new chapter into the Alien saga, and the name alone made me smirk. Pulp is not a dainty word. It’s sticky, ripe, a little indecent. A fruity floral, yes, but hopefully the kind with texture and bite, not a watered-down smoothie.

I still remember my first spritz of Alien on a chilly night out, that solar-jasmine glow clinging to my scarf like a neon aura. Alien has always been maximalist in spirit, even when you wear it lightly. Which is why the recent rhythm makes sense. We got Alien Hypersense in 2024, then Alien Extraintense in 2025, and now Alien Pulp swings the pendulum toward play. If Extraintense felt like turning the volume knob, Pulp sounds like turning up the saturation.

Fruity florals are having a second act because the best ones have learned restraint where it matters and excess where it counts. With Pulp, the promise is density. Think fruit that reads three-dimensional, not hairspray-candy. I want the original Alien glow to peek through that juice, not get buried under it. The Mugler DNA can handle it. That ambered, sun-warmed backbone was built for contrast.

Is flanker fatigue real? Absolutely. Do I roll my eyes at yet another suffix? Often. But I’ll confess this name works on me. Pulp feels tactile and a little punk, which is closer to the Mugler I fell for than a lot of safe, focus-grouped gloss. If the jasmine-amber aura of Alien gets a fleshy, mouthwatering companion, we might be looking at a winter-to-spring party piece that actually earns its shelf space.

I’ll be testing it on skin the minute it hits counters. The bar here is simple. Alien Pulp should feel like fruit with shadows, not sorbet with a spotlight. If it keeps the glow of Alien, nods at the boldness of Alien Extraintense, winks at the clarity of Alien Hypersense, and still finds its own voice, we may have the year’s first flanker worth a second sniff.
