If the city had a heartbeat, DKNY would bottle it, shake it, and tell you to keep up. Now Donna Karan is doubling down with two new flankers to 2024’s DKNY 24/7: DKNY 24/7 Electric and DKNY 24/7 Rush. The names are not shy. Neither is the brief. We’re talking late trains, lit billboards, audacity on skin.
I wore the original DKNY 24/7 on rainy errands last fall. It had that urban-clean aura I reach for when I want to smell polished without smelling precious. So what do these two do that the original didn’t?
DKNY 24/7 Electric: The name screams switch-on. I’m bracing for a voltage spike - likely a sharper opening with zesty sparkle and a metallic flicker that cuts through crowded air. If the base stays sheer and breathable, Electric could be the weekday-to-night hop that doesn’t collapse by the second martini. I want that cool-glow illusion on skin, the way streetlights make even concrete look glamorous.
DKNY 24/7 Rush: Rush hints at speed and heat. I’m imagining a faster build, more adrenaline, maybe a pulsing woody-musk that hugs closer but moves quicker. If Electric is the neon sign, Rush is the turnstile click and the sprint to catch it. I’ll test it on a scarf first to see if it blooms or bolts.
Let’s be honest: flankers are a gamble. For every surprise keeper, there’s a “why did we bother.” But DKNY is one of the few houses that understands tempo. From the era of Be Delicious apple pop to the slicker city chic of recent releases, their best work feels wearable without being wallpaper.
Who are these for? If you liked the crisp, clean confidence of DKNY 24/7 but wanted more personality, Electric is your extrovert and Rush is your heartbeat. Gym bag to rooftop, office AC to midnight taxi, that’s the lane. I’ll be timing longevity and lift because a name like 24/7 invites scrutiny. If either one can keep its shimmer or thrum past hour six, we might have a new commuter classic.
I’ll report back once I’ve done the wrist-vs-jacket trial. For now, color me curious, city-ready, and slightly suspicious in the best way. Bold names don’t scare me. Boring drydowns do.
