If your Thursday scent wouldn’t hold its own at a Bowie afterparty, why bother. Today I wanted something with poise and a sly grin, so I’m in Ormonde Jayne Osmanthus. It opens with that luminous, tea-toned breeze I crave in winter, then slides into the apricot-skin leather hum that makes osmanthus addictive. It’s clean enough for daylight, but it moves like silk. There’s a whisper of fruit, never sticky, and a soft suede nuance that keeps me smirking between sips of black tea.
Fitting, since it’s David Bowie’s birthday. His shapeshifting spirit is a good reminder that perfume doesn’t have to sit in one genre. Osmanthus is a rebel in florals, half orchard, half glove box, all attitude.
It’s also National Bubble Bath Day, which gives full permission to go plush and soapy. If you’re in the mood for towel-fresh calm, try:
Tomorrow is National Apricot Day, so line up something with a sunlit pit. Apricot in perfume can mean fleshy fruit, suede-like osmanthus, or a velvety floral wink:
Today I’m toggling between clean foam and sly fruit-leather, and that duality feels right. Bowie taught us to embrace contradictions. Osmanthus gets it. Bubble bath gets it. And tomorrow, apricot gets its day in the sun.
