Back to Home

I was ready to put endless men’s flankers on a timeout, then Azzaro dropped Forever Wanted Absolu and pulled me right back into the ring. It’s the latest entry in the brand’s most turbocharged line, a flanker to the 2016 blockbuster Wanted, and hot on the heels of last year’s Forever Wanted Elixir.

Let’s talk naming, because that’s half the story. “Forever” promised longevity and commitment. “Elixir” hinted at richness and nocturnal swagger. Now “Absolu” arrives with the insinuation of concentration and depth. In designer-speak, Absolu usually translates to more density, more glow, more everything. The risk is obvious. Turn up all the knobs and you lose contrast. The reward, if it’s done right, is plush texture without gluey sweetness.

The Wanted DNA is no mystery at this point. It’s a crowd-pleasing cocktail that tilts sweet-spicy, often wrapped in warm woods and an easygoing tonka hum. The question for Forever Wanted Absolu is whether it can keep that flirty, press-the-gas energy while adding maturity. I’m hoping for sharper spice definition up top, less sticky mid, and a drydown that feels polished rather than syrupy.

Where does this leave Forever Wanted Elixir? If Elixir was the velvet-rope moment, Absolu feels like the tailored jacket version. Same confidence, less club fog. Or at least that’s the promise baked into the name. No official note list has crossed my desk yet, so I’m reading the strategy rather than the formula, and I’ll update once I can wear it properly on skin.

A few quick takes for shoppers:

  • If you wear Wanted happily, Absolu is likely a safe swing. Expect the same charismatic warmth with extra saturation.
  • If Elixir felt heavy, Absolu might split the difference if the brand managed better lift and contrast.
  • If sweetness is your dealbreaker, sample first. This family rarely goes austere.

I still have a soft spot for the mischievous barrel-styled bottle that made Wanted impossible to ignore. If Forever Wanted Absolu matches the name with real structure, we could be looking at the most wearable, grown-up chapter of the line so far. Testing soon, curiosity fully engaged.
