Acqua di Parma Colonia il Profumo Millesimato: sparkle or just another flanker?

If you think the world needs another flanker, you’re probably right. If you think we might make an exception for Acqua di Parma, you’re also right. The new limited edition Colonia il Profumo Millesimato lands as a sequel to last year’s Colonia il Profumo, itself a richer riff on the original Colonia. The word doing the heavy lifting here is Millesimato, a term borrowed from sparkling wine that signals a chosen vintage. Translation for perfume lovers: a promise of select citrus and polished clarity rather than density.

On skin, Millesimato reads like a freshly pressed white shirt snapped by a sea breeze. The classic Colonia DNA is intact, that sunny duet of bergamot and lemon over neroli and herbal lift, but there’s a distinct fizz that feels almost mineral. Think sparkling water poured over a twist of bitter peel. If last year’s Colonia il Profumo was the velvet-lined box, Colonia il Profumo Millesimato is the jewel catching the morning light.

What stands out:

  • Brightness without bleach. The citrus feels high quality and three-dimensional, not screechy. There’s likely a touch of petitgrain or a green facet giving tension to the glow.
  • A discreet shimmer up top that suggests aldehydic lift, then an elegantly dry-down that stays close to the Colonia script: musky-clean woods, a brush of vetiver, maybe a ghost of moss.
  • Unisex to the bone. As a woman who steals from the cologne shelf, I’d wear this with a blazer and red lipstick and call it done.

Projection and persistence feel dialed slightly higher than the OG Colonia, closer to what Colonia il Profumo offered, but with a lighter touch. It’s the kind of scent that lets you smell impeccably groomed without shouting your presence. Office-safe, terrace-perfect, winter-blues-defying.

Is it necessary? Only if you crave the classic with more sparkle and less syrup. Is it good? Yes, and dangerously easy to love. Limited edition means it will vanish just as it settles into your routine, so at least give it a skin test before it slips away. For fans of Acqua di Parma who measure their days in lemons and light, Colonia il Profumo Millesimato is a bright little indulgence that earns its place.
